Before you apply for admission to the MBA Program at UNU, you’ll need to make sure you meet certain criteria.
MBA Prerequisites for Admission
To be considered for admission to the MBA Program, you must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited US college or university or its equivalent in another country.
You also need to submit your scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE). Our MBA requirements do not require a minimum GMAT or GRE score for any applicant to be considered for admission. We also accept the GMAT Focus Edition and shortened GRE.
All international students whose native language is not English must take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the academic version of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English (PTE). We also accept the enhanced TOEFL iBT.
This requirement can be waived if you:
- Earned an undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree from an institution in which English is the language of instruction.
- OR are a citizen or permanent resident of a country where English is an official language

As an international student, you’ll follow the same application process as US-based students, with a few additional things to note.
When to Apply
We recommend that international students apply in earlier rounds; however, there is sufficient time for students to apply for and secure a visa in all rounds.
Academic Requirements
International applicants must have a college or university degree equivalent to a four-year American baccalaureate degree. In light of the Bologna Accord, UNU also accepts candidates with three-year international degrees. To document your degree, you will need to submit official academic records or a scanned transcript.
English Language Exams
If English is not your native language, you’ll need to submit proof of English proficiency by taking one of the following exams:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- The academic version of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE)
- Duolingo English Test
This requirement can be waived if you earned an undergraduate or postgraduate degree from an institution in which English is the language of instruction, or if you are a citizen or permanent resident of a country where English is an official language.

Applicants who score below the minimum may still apply, but admission is contingent upon demonstrated English proficiency during the admissions interview if the candidate is invited to interview, or upon other language requirements.
